Eligibility for Admission

Admission criteria for Basic B.Sc Nursing :
Admission is once in a year and is open to candidates from all parts of India provided they meet the basic requirements
Duration of the course is four and a half years.
Basic Requirements
  1. Minimum educational qualification required is Pre University / PDC pass or its equivalent, preferably with Science subjects (PCBE) with a minimum of 50% marks.
  2. Candidates with good conduct and sound health between 17 - 35 years of age are eligible.
  3. Physical fitness must be ensured by a certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
  4. A fair degree of English knowledge is essential.
  5. The filled in application form together with a photo copy of the following should be submitted.
    1. PDC / PUC Science / Arts pass certificate or its equivalent and two character certificates from their local leaders.
    2. Recent conduct certificate from the institution last attended
    3. Certificate of other educational qualifications, if any.
    4. T.C / Cumulative Record

Admission criteria for General Nursing and Midwifery
Admission is once in a year and is open to candidates from all parts of India provided they meet the basic requirements.
The duration of the course is three and a half years.
Basic Requirements :

  1. The Minimum educational qualification required is Pre University / PDC pass or its equivalent, preferably with Science / Arts subjects with a minimum of 45% marks.
  2. Candidates with good conduct and sound health between 17 - 35 years of age are eligible.
  3. A registered medical practitioner must ensure physical fitness certificate.
  4. A fair degree in English knowledge is essential.
  5. The filled in application form together with a photo copy of the following should be submitted.
    1. PDC / PUC Science / Arts pass certificate or its equivalent and two character certificates from their local leaders.
    2. Recent conduct certificate from the institution last attended
    3. Certificate of other educational qualifications, if any.
    4. T.C / Cumulative Record

Course of Study
The course of study leading to Bachelor of Nursing (Basic) degree comprises of four academic years with 6 months of Internship.
The course of study leading to General and Midwifery comprises of three academic years with 6 months of internship.
Course of Study & Scheme of Examination (As per New GNM Syllabus) 

Attendance, Progress and Conduct Attendance, Progress and Conduct
Each student must have a certificate of satisfactory attendance, progress and conduct from the principal of the college of Nursing to be eligible for attending the University examination. A minimum of 80% attendance is required in each subject for both theory and practical. Attendance of 10% may be condoned by the Vice Chancellor on the recommendation of the principal based on the genuinely of the case.

Internal Assessment
There shall be an internal assessment which follows the principles enunciated by the University in each subject, for which 20% of the marks are set apart and these will be added to the final marks in the University examination. There shall be a minimum of two assignments and three periodical tests in every subject each year, to assess the progress of the candidates.
If a candidate fails in examination, his / her internal assessment shall be assessed again. If he / she is regular student for the second attempt only, and the marks obtained, which ever is higher, will be considered.

Eligibility for Admission
A Candidate shall be eligible for admission to the examination if :

  1. He / She completed not less than eleven months of the course and the total performance has been satisfactory during that period.
  2. He / She attended 75% of the formal instructions given on each subject and 75% field experience separately during the year. However the total field experience / clinical experience prescribed must be completed before the final examination (3rd Year) but the degree shall not be awarded until the student has completed the filed work requirements.
  3. His / Her record of practical experience is up to date.
  4. The Head of the College sends the internal marks for each paper as well as practical, to the University / Council.

Discipline

The Institution expects a high degree of discipline from the students.

Students who are found guilty of provoking, instigating, leading or participating in any illegal activities, ragging, stike or boycotting the classes will be summarily dismissed.

Uniform
The students are required to wear the uniform as prescribed by the Institution.

Declaration of Results
Criteria of Pass
Main Subjects
A candidate is declared to have passed the examination in a subject, if he / she secures 50% of the marks in theory and 50% in practical separately. For a pass in theory, a candidate has to secure a minimum of 40% marks in the University conducted written examination, and 50% aggregate i.e., marks scored in the University conducted written examination and internal assessment (theory), added together. For a pass in practical, a candidate has to score a minimum of 40% of the marks in University conducted practical examination and internal assessment (practical) added together.

Subsidiary Subjects
The examination for subsidiary subjects shall be conducted by the respective colleges. For a pass in subsidiary subjects, a candidate shall secure 35% of the total marks prescribed for the subjects and has to pass all the subsidiary subjects before appearing for the final year University exams.

Declaration of Class

  1. Ranks shall be declared on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by a candidate in the university subjects of the course. Only those candidates who have passed all the subjects of the university examinations in the first attempt shall be eligible for the award of rank.

  2. Distinction-above 75%,1 class-60% to75%,II class-50% to 60%,pass class-candidates who pass in more than one will be placed in pass class irrespective of the percentage of marks secured.

  3. The marks obtained by a candidate in the subjects for which class examinations are conducted, shall not be considered for award of class or rank.
